On Friday July 14, 1995, La Plaza Telecommunity Foundation held a block party at the Kit Carson Memorial Park In Taos
We were pleased to see so many important and supportive faces. Among them were Steve Cisler of Apple Computers, Mayor Frederick A. Peralta of Taos, Dr. Augustine Martinez, Director of UNM-Taos Education Center and Dr. Sig Hecker, Director of Los Alamos National Laboratories.
The Jenny Bird Band played some great music and a good time was had by all. Oh yea, and it rained! That was fun too because we all got to cozy in together under the band shell to hear the inspiring speeches and presentations that were made.
Patrick Finn, the former Managing Director for Human and Organizational Development for La Plaza spoke. He presented certificates of appreciation to volunteers and supporters whose efforts have stood out. He also was presented with a couple of treats. The Mayor proclaimed that July 13, will here forth be recognized as "La Plaza Telecommunity Day" in Taos. And Steve Cisler pledged to donate some great new demo equipment from Apple Computers.
Richard W. Bryant,the former Managing Director for Projects and Research and Development at La Plaza, and Paul A. Cross, Managing Director for Technology, were in Washington D.C. making presentations and were not able to attend. We gave them both a virtual round of applause.
