Support "La Plaza Computer Essay Contest" for Taos YouthLa Plaza Telecommunity is a participating organization in the Tango in Taos IV Golf Tournament charity event that will be held June 10, 2000 at the Taos Country Club.
"Tango In Taos" is a fundraising vehicle sponsored by the Taos Community Foundation that helps support the efforts of 86 tax-exempt organizations and programs by matching funds raised by the participating organizations from February 11th through June 10, 2000. Each organization’s fundraising efforts include securing golfers to enter the tournament and to find contributors to sponsor holes at different dollar levels.
La Plaza uses the funds raised to provide computers to deserving youth in Taos County via our annual Computer Essay Contest. La Plaza is dedicated to bridging the “digital divide” in Taos County by providing young people with access to Information Technology at the end of the school day. Many students have access to computers and the Internet at school. When they go home at night, they are unable to share the lessons they have learned with their parents and other family members. When they walk out the door at night, and especially when they graduate from High School they lose all access to computers and the Internet.
Last year we raised sufficient funds too give away 5 new computers to Taos youth. We also provided the winning contestants with a free Internet and email account for one year as well as assorted software programs. Learn more about last year’s winners.
This year La Plaza is inviting you to support us in our challenge to raise enough funds to give away 10 computers. You can help us continue to help Taos youth by becoming a hole sponsor in this years event or by donating any amount you can. For every dollar we raise the Taos Tango IV will match us 50%. We are hoping to raise $10,000 for a match of $5000 to La Plaza. Your name and/or your company’s name will be displayed during the event as well as on the Corporate Sponsor page on the La Plaza Web Site.

Titanium - $1000May 30th is the deadline for sending your donations to La Plaza in conjunction with the Tango in Taos Golf Tournament being held at Taos Country Club on Saturday, June 10. Remember your donation and the 50% match from the golf tournament will be used to purchase new computers for La Plaza's annual essay contest for youth, with the winners receiving new computers. Please mail your checks to La Plaza designating the dollars for the "Taos Tango" and help La Plaza provided 10 computers for the contest in
