ADA has patient and professional educational materials, monthly magazine
subscription and catalogs of diabetes publications and videos. Videos are
available through the ADA lending library. ADA offers training on how to
lead diabetes support groups. The Affiliate also sponsors a resident camp
for children with diabetes, raises funds for diabetes research, educational
activities and publishes a State newsletter. Call the Affiliate office for
general information on diabetes, a catalog, schedule of support group trainings,
and other activities of local chapters. Health care provider referrals are
available from listings of ADA professional members within the state and
nation-wide.

The NM Commission for the Blind offers numerous services for blind or otherwise
visually impaired persons. The Commission offers low vision clinics, a newsline
for the blind, emergency medical eye care, independent living programs for
older blind persons, vocational rehabilitation, training and employment
programs, business enterprise programs, and other services for the blind.

Children's Medical Services (CMS) is a state agency that provides services
for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disabling conditions in children.
Children under age 21 who have a chronic illness or disability are eligible
for medical services, information and referral, case management, and developmental
evaluations. Special endocrinology clinics for children with diabetes are
available. CMS offices are located throughout the state. Check the county

This nonprofit, voluntary health organization has chapters throughout the
U.S. The ADA serves people with diabetes, their families and friends, and
health professionals and scientists involved in diabetes-related activities.
The ADA publishes monthly and quarterly magazines for patients, including
Diabetes Forecast. ADA also publishes cookbooks, meal planning guides, educational
materials, and books for patients.

The Joslin Diabetes Center offers inpatient and outpatient treatment, education,
and support services to adults and children with diabetes. The center is
affiliated with Harvard Medical School and publishes a variety of educational
materials for patients, including manuals, nutrition guides, and materials

This private, nonprofit, voluntary organization has chapters throughout
the United States and the world and raises funds for diabetes research.
Individual chapters offer support groups and other activities for families.
They publish a quarterly journal and a series of patient education brochures

research on diabetic eye disease. The National Eye Health Education Program
produces patient education materials related to diabetic eye disease.

The NDIC is a service of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive
and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). The NDIC offers a variety of publications for
