walks of life to build houses, hope, and community with people in need,

Habitat for Humanity of Taos is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, an ecumenical, nonprofit Christian housing ministry building decent, affordable housing and renovating existing housing in partnership with people in need.
Volunteers provide most of the labor; individual and corporate donors provide funding and building materials. Partner families put 500 or more hours of "sweat equity" into their homes and those of others. Habitat houses are sold at no profit, with no interest charged. Mortgage payments go into revolving fund for Humanity, to finance additional houses.
WE WELCOME VOLUNTEERS
Our house sites need volunteers at all levels of skill, and are open to volunteers
wishing to participate. We schedule work groups during the week and workshops
on Saturdays. We welcome volunteers who are willing to commit for
extended periods of time as well as individuals offering help for a few days.
Please call the office at 505-758-7827 to reserve a place. For Saturday workshops,
please call by Thursday of the week in which you wish to join us.
Habitat/Taos offers a unique building experience as we build with vigas and adobe, a traditional southwestern style of architecture. Taos is also the home of a strong alternative building environment, emphasizing green construction and self-sustainability. Volunteers benefit from participating in various phases of construction at multiple house sites.

you are in need of such housing, in the area of Taos County, please call
the Habitat office at 758-7827 for information on applying for Habitat
home ownership.
Collegiate Challenge
is a service opportunity for college and high school students ages 16 and older,
coordinated by the Campus Chapters and Youth Programs department of
Habitat for Humanity International. Since its founding in 1989, Collegiate
Challenge has grown into one of the largest spring break programs in the country.
Students raise funds, build houses, and have fun while working to further the
