About Ancianos

Ancianos is a non-profit organization that provides a variety of services to senior citizens 60 years of age, and their spouses, regardless of age in Taos County.

The Program is governed by an 11 member board which is made up of four (4) representatives from individual senior centers, a representative for the Foster Grandparent Senior Companion Volunteer Program, a represenative from an undeserved and/or unserved geographical area, one represenative from a civic orginization providing service to senior citizens and a member representing the Village of Questa, Town of Taos, and Taos County

Ancianos operates senior centers in Taos, Amalia, Questa and Chamisal. All senior centers function with a full staff, as well as independant advisor councils. The advisory councils are elected by the senior population in each area. Participants are encouraged to provide input regarding menu planning, site decor, and senior citizen activities, to the advisory councils, site managers, Executive Director and Board of Directors, in that order. The Ancianos administrative staff  and the Board of Directors maintain an "open door" policy in order to listen to and address requests for improvement of existing services, as well as requests for new services.
