7th Annual New Mexico Native American Science & Engineering Fair

Taos Day School Winners

Thirteen students from Taos Day School came back from the 7th Annual New Mexico Native American Science and Engineering Fair held in Albuquerque, March 5-7, 1998, with medals. Winners are:

5th grade
Daniel, 1st place, microbiology;
Isaac, 2nd place, physics;
Emily, 3rd place, microbiology

6th grade
Marc and Dwight, 2nd place, team physical science

7th grade
Sasha, 1st place, medicine and health;
Charisse and Lynette, 1st place, environmental science;
Asia and Naarah, 2nd place, environmental science

8th grade
Crystal and Shona, 1st place, team life science;
Dale, 2nd place, medicine and health

In addition, Sasha was the recipient of special cash award from the American Vacuum Society of New Mexico and Dale received an Acoma pottery for placing in the traditional category. These students are now eligible to travel to the National American Indian Science and Engineering Fair to be held April 2-4, 1998, in Rapid City, South Dakota. Congratulations!
