The People of Northern New Mexico

For centuries, during long periods of isolation, the people of Northern New Mexico have developed deep cultural roots. Stories, languages, beliefs, the skills of wood carving, pottery making, handfishing, and music, just to name a few, have been passed down from generation to generation, all individuals in our communities have joined in with one of the richest cultural developments ever. From the art of building a lowrider to the deep respect they have for the land, the water, and the environment, involvement in our rich Hispanic, Native American, and Anglo tri-cultural heritage continues to thrive.

A few of the individuals who have developed such cultural skills have been kind enough to share some of their works with us. We are thankful to them for their contributions.

We invite you to meet our local living treasures.
