Help Desk Technician

I am originally from El Paso and moved to Taos with my partner in 1994. We are currently building our first house together which has been a very rewarding experience for us both. I play drums with Cullen Winter and the Blues Band with Sixteen Eyes. You can hear us at the Alley Cantina every Thursday night, as well as other sundry venues.

Since I started with La Plaza late in 1999 I have been promoted from Help Desk Technician to Field Support Technician. My duties include doing computer maintenance at La Plaza and the public access sites in Penasco and Questa. I am involved in a grant awarded by AMC Cancer Research Center doing technical assessments and maintenance on computers in Taos and Rio Arriba Counties. I also still work on the help desk, lending assistance to all you out there that have trouble with your connection.

Most of my background is in music, so I am fairly new to computers, but because of La Plaza's attitude of learning and growing I have learned alot in a very short time. Most of my formal computer training was through the JTPA Program where I received Certificates in Microsoft Word and Excel. I did my internship with La Plaza and was added onto staff soon afterwards. Prior to that, I had taken some basic Windows classes at UNM and just experimented with an old Mac SE computer that someone gave me. Going from music into computers has been a very natural process because I enjoy the technical side of both worlds.
