Abby hails from New York City where her parents and grandparents were involved in the theatre and visual arts. With her family supporting her artistic endeavors, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where she specialized in ceramics.
After college, Abby and her husband ran a crafts cooperative in Massachusetts and then moved to Colorado to work at the Anderson Ranch Art Center. Moving to Taos in October of 1996, she assisted several local ceramic artists and started up her own business "Butter Pie Productions" with the assistance of WESST Corp, a women's economic development group in Taos.
