Full Containment was declared at 6:00 PM tonight. Acreage burned by the fire is estimated to be 7525 acres. Demobilization of crews and overhead is underway, and work has begun to rehabilitate firelines and other impacts of fire suppression activity. Incident Commander Lovings's team will turn management of the fire back to Carson NM personnel at 6:00 AM on Sunday.

The Hondo Fire is reported to have been fully contained as of 6:00 PM last night. (5/10)

Senator Jeff Bingaman and Congressman Bill Richardson visited the fire today (5/11), and met with local community leaders.

Gov. Gary Johnson flew into the Taos Airport Monday morning (5/6) to view the fire situation in the Questa/Red River area. Although unable to get an aerial view, he was able to view the fire at ground level. He has asked that a Federal Disaster emergency be declared.

La Plaza will be updating this site throughout the crisis.
